Diabetic Foot Ulcer
Diabetic foot ulcer is caused due to neurologic and vascular complication. A individual with diabetic foot ulcer may not realize even if any hurt or wound is present in his foot, he/she fails to notice it as diabetic foot ulcer affects the nerves in the foot and they loose the tendency to react to any kind of disturbance in the foot. The individual affected by diabetic foot ulcer may not notice immediately as soon as he/she is infected, it takes time for them to notice. There is no specific cure for this ulcer; strict glucose control alone can give the patient some relief.
An open sore in the feet is usually diagnosed to be a foot ulcer. This ulcer could extend to the full thickness of the skin and may go deep as tendons and bones. People with diabetics and poor circulation usually tend to get this ulcer. If a small ulcer in the foot doesn’t heal it may infect the entire foot.
A sore in the lower leg that generally doesn’t heal is known as leg ulcer. It is usually caused due to a knock or a bump on the lower leg. When it doesn’t heal it transforms into a ulcer.
